The Party Favor Everyone Will Love: Custom Decorate Your Own Sugar Cookies
When it comes to planning birthday parties for Kai, one of the most difficult tasks has been figuring out the party favors. Whether it was from a wedding or one of her friend’s birthday parties, there were so many times she left a party with things that she never used.
I totally understand that when you’re the one planning events, you want to give your guests something so they don’t leave empty-handed. But I also know that it’s hard to have your kids bringing home things that will most likely end up lost or on the floor.
I know that most people are usually okay with something food related, but giving kids a bag of candy doesn’t have that extra special touch Kai always likes things to have. So we kept thinking and browsing Pinterest to figure out what could we could give as a party favor that both kids and moms would love.
And the answer is...a custom paint your own sugar cookie!
It’s amazing what you can do with a bit of food coloring, a sprinkle of powdered sugar and a dash of creativity. Whether it’s an art-themed birthday party, a baptism or a wedding reception, it’s an interactive dessert that kids will love creating. And unlike other arts and crafts projects, they actually get to eat it!
As a mom, I love that it’s not just another toy but an activity that encourages them to use their imagination. The only thing you have to worry about is the kids eating the cookie before they get done painting.
It’s really as simple as 1-2-3.
- Wet the paintbrush (which comes with the cookie) with water.
- Dip the brush in your favorite color.
- Color your picture!
It’s just like watercolor painting, requires very little cleanup (because they get to eat it and the paint can’t spill) and is something they can do anywhere. I guarantee that this is something that won’t end up lost.
You can easily display the cookies on a large platter for the kids to paint at the event or you can wrap the cookies individually so they take the cookie to paint at home. It definitely has that extra wow factor that Kai loves and it was a huge hit at the party. All I can say is that it’s the perfect party favor!
